Walmart & Sam's Club Trend Research

+ built initially for Walmart and Sam's club, but was eventually rolled out to all clients

Shown above is an example mood board I created for the Sam's Club tiered cake program. The trend board came together by researching and gathering various unique ideas out in the world, not only within the bakery industry but fashion, wedding, design, party planning, etc..

BACK TO NATURE: This trend board explored the latest shift in parenting as well as, life styles of Millennials. Highlighting organic elements such as, natural colorings, diverse floral elements, and textures.

These succulents were developed based off the "BACK TO NATURE" trend. The cake designers used the trend boards as inspiration to explore cake designs that best represent the trend and are executable for the working environment within Walmart & Sam's Club bakeries.

EYE CANDY: Was inspired by the "overloaded" craze, and allows for multiple products to be used per cake. This trend is very vibrant and lends itself to the child in all of us.

This trend was a great example of out of the box thinking. Walmart & Sam's Club bakeries require all designs to be executable by base level decorators. This trend naturally creates elaborate and intensive designs. Needing to keep the execution level "EASY" for the bakeries within Walmart & Sam's Club we developed products that would lend themselves to a mix and match design.

WATERCOLOR: Welcome to the world of watercolor, a sweet and elegant approach for any special occasion.

This was another trend that required advanced skill-sets for decorators, watercolor elements were developed to allow base level decorators the ability to achieve this look. Utilizing new printing technology we were able to achieve these items which now allows Walmart & Sam's club to execute elevated cake designs in a timely fashion.
